Decades and Decadestwo, the LA-based designer consignment boutiques, invited us to preview the fashion booty they pirated to New York City last night and of course, we obliged. The annual pop-up shopping event, which is hosted in the luxury lingerie retail space of Kiki de Montparnasse, is more of an experience than basic bargain hunting. Though as expected, we were rewarded handsomely in our constant quest for cost-efficient couture. We immediately knew the trek to SoHo was well worth it when we spied a beaded Oscar de la Renta gown with the tags still on, priced well below its retail lot of $10,950 at $4,600! And not to mention the circa 2004 iconic white jersey Tom Ford for Gucci gown–while it was already spoken for, it was enough for us just to be in the same room. Beyond its red-carpet appropriate gowns, Decades offers some vintage ready-to wear items, like an eye-catching 1980s Givenchy wrap dress priced at a more comfortable $225. There was also a sea of Chanel tweed jackets, which all start at $850. Our hearts skipped a beat when we stumbled upon the accessory offerings. A nearly toppling table is filled to the brim with varying Fendi baguettes and Chanel classic 2.55 flap bags. Though beautiful, the handbags gave us a bit of sticker shock as some were listed up to $5,000. With a cost of about $300 – $500, the Brian Atwood, Christian Louboutin and Prada stilettos might be your best bet in regard to your purse strings. This might be wishful thinking, but a staffer noted there’s a possibility of all the prices dropping on the last day.
