We suppose if it took however many relationships (Kelly Preston, Lucy Liu, Stacy Keibler!) for Mr. George Clooney to put a ring on it, we should have known it wound be a good one by the time an engagement actually rolled around.
After a week of high intensity rumors, our friends at People masterfully obtained a photograph of Amal Alamuddin—otherwise known as Clooney’s lady love—at a private dinner in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Monday sporting a glimmering diamond on that finger. Ah, so it is true!
As People reports, the 52-year-old actor, filmmaker and philanthropist proposed to Alamuddin the traditional way—"on bended knee"—on April 22 after a whirlwind year in the public eye. Clooney allegedly helped design the rock, pictured below, which features an ethically mined (well, naturally) emerald-cut stone at an estimated seven-plus carats.
We would be remiss, of course, if we didn’t mention what a truly lucky man Clooney is for landing the 36-year-old, Oxford-educated international lawyer. She first rose to prominence in 2011 while representing WikiLeaks’ founder Julian Assange in his defense against extradition, and has co-authored a book and several book chapters on law, as well. Dang.
