We’ve grown accustomed to seeing certain Hollywood memorabilia hit the auction circuit lately. (After all, who wouldn’t want one of Marilyn or Audrey’s old outfits?) However, the latest buzzed-about object under the hammer is not even five years old.
WWD reports that the recently late Amy Winehouse‘s 2006 album cover dress just sold for $70,440 at a London auction yesterday. The Disaya Sorakraikitikul designed piece was sold off to benefit the "Amy Winehouse Foundation," a charity founded by the singers parents to aid young people in need. Also purchased? A beaded Alexander McQueen piece ($127,000) and a replica of Princess Diana’s wedding look ($78,300).
We hope the next piece up for grabs is Kate Middleton‘s wedding gown. Since it was put on public display at Buckingham palace, the Sarah Burton creation has attracted well over 600,000 people; can you even imagine how much it would go for? Better yet, they should sell Pippa‘s bridesmaid ensemble too. Which would you (if you have, say, the disposable income of a billionaire) pay more for?
