I love a great shoe (who doesn’t?), but I tend to stick to a few tried-and-true brands: No. 6, Rachel Comey and Madewell have pretty much had me covered for the past few years. But recently, while braving the crowds at a sample sale, I discovered Ariana Bohling—and I feel like my shoe game will never be the same. Her buttery-soft leather booties are pretty much perfect—sleek, chic and so wearable—and her oxfords make my tomboy heart skip a beat.
Not only are Ariana’s shoes crazy-cool, but her story is too. I found out that she used to make everything in her Brooklyn apartment (!), but recently moved her operation to Peru to keep up with demand. She now splits her time between Peru and New York so she can continue to oversee every aspect of production—and oh, man, does it show. Each shoe is impeccably constructed and totally worth the (splurge-y) price. So clear some space in your shoe rack already, because I predict Comey, No. 6 and Madewell levels of greatness for this girl.
