If you had plans to do anything on February 4 besides go online and spend lots of money, cancel them now! This morning, WWD reported that next Monday, Barneys New York will be launching a discount site, Barneys Warehouse, filled with marked-down pieces from previous seasons.
As the name suggests, the site will serve as a digital version of brand’s legendary bi-annual sale—possibly something similar to the online component of last summer’s event, but permanent (kind of like Net-a-Porter‘s likeminded offshoot, The Outnet). There’ll be items for men, women, children and home marked up to 75 percent off, all replenished on a regular basis.
It hasn’t been confirmed if the new site will eventually replace the brick-and-mortar warehouse sales in NYC; at present, the usual blowout is scheduled for February 14 to 24 at Barneys’ West 18th Street location, and will move to a new space nearby come August, at which point menswear will apparently dominate the offerings. As for the famous sale’s recently-added internet counterpart? Racked.com points out that the company sent an email to customers last week announcing that the digital warehouse sale would be returning in February. And now, a similar message lives on Barneyswarehouse.com, stating "Want a heads up for the next Barneys Warehouse Sale? Sign up here and we’ll send you an alert." We’re really hoping for the best of both shopping scenarios—two brick-and-mortar blowouts per year plus ongoing online sales. How about you?
