This season’s ad campaigns have truly run the creative gamut. From the crowded (Prada) to the furry (Mulberry), Spring 2014 has presented a variety of uniquely styled shoots the fashion industry won’t soon forget. As we’re looking forward to spotting all our favorites in the upcoming spring magazines, beauty brands are beginning to unveil their warm-weather campaigns as well. And the latest—for Balenciaga’s Rosabotanica perfume and MAC’s Viva Glam lipstick—are both taking intimate leaps in the ad department.
We’re talking, of course, about toplessness. In basic advertising terms, clothes don’t necessarily matter when it comes to beauty brands. After all, companies are promoting products to enhance your face, hair and scent—not your clothing. Right?
First up is the spot for Kristen Stewart’s Balenciaga fragrance, which, shot in black and white, reveals neither cleavage nor sideboob yet is undeniably sexy—and remember, the 23-year-old actress is also the newest face of Chanel, too. As KStew holds (caresses?) the Rosabotanica bottle against her face, we can’t help but wonder what Robert Pattinson’s reaction will be when he catches sight of the beautiful shot.
Predictably, Rihanna‘s new, charitable Viva Glam lipstick campaign for MAC (seen below) is a little more risqué. RiRi, showcasing her signature cherry red lips, a blonde wig and plenty of under-cleavage, gave her 10 million followers this first glance on her Instagram.
