As much as I hate to admit it, I used to love going tanning—as in, using a tanning bed. Of course, making a habit of this is the equivalent of bidding healthy skin (not to mention your health in general) goodbye. And since it’s been several long, wintery months since my skin last saw the sun, I’m keeping these pasty legs under wraps and out of skin-baring shorts—until they no longer look capable of glowing in the dark, at least.
That’s why I’ve turned to self tanners—a move I was reluctant to make after a particularly horrible experience in high school (which involved orange zebra stripes down my legs as well as on my clothes and, really, everything else I touched). Fortunately—or unfortunately, depending on how you see it—I was able to scare people off with that burning self tanner smell before they actually had to lay eyes on me.
Needless to say, I was skeptical when I picked up a bottle of G.M. Collin’s Self Tanning Milk. The morning after I first slathered it on, I woke up to a hint of a glow—and the color was so even and natural I had to go back and think about whether or not I had spent a day in the sun recently. Nope. G.M. Collin recommends using it once daily after exfoliation, but I only needed one more application to give me the color I was looking for, which lasted a full week before it started to fade. Whether you’re looking for an I-spent-the-day-at-the-park tint or full-on beach vacation color, this fake tan looks like (and lasts just as long as) the real thing! See ya, tanning beds. Hello healthy, glowy skin!
