Considering Coach’s long-standing dedication to creating the kind of timeless—not trendy—handbag one carries for life (or until her daughter, granddaughter or sister "borrows" it for good), the brand’s forthcoming collaboration with Billy Reid makes total sense. The Alabama-based designer, too, is know for his all-American sensibility and impeccable craftsmanship.
Announced yesterday in WWD, the collection—set to hit select stores and online this September—will include accessories for both men and women; prices will swing from $250 (a simple leather wallet) to $20,000 (a crocodile tote…for if, you know, the one from The Row is starting to feel too ubiquitous).
Besides being full of handbags and wallets worthy of giving up Starbucks runs for five months, the range will includes tons of great gift ideas for hard-to-shop-for dads, brothers, boyfriends and brothers. There’s going to be buttery soft baseball gloves in both father and son sizes ($400 and $200, respectively), a leather-trimmed portable bar set ($600) and a billfold inspired by Billy Reid’s own. Sounds way better than another silk tie and coffee mug to us.
