Fifty years ago today that most-iconic film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, made women across America believe that the glamorous life was available to just about anyone.
Audrey Hepburn, cast as the ditzy and gorgeous Holly Golightly, came from nothing and managed to make her life nothing short of fabulous on a shoestring (reminds us of that other NYC heroine whose wardrobe certainly didn’t match her salary, Carrie Bradshaw). Hepburn made sure we’d never think of a little black dress in the same way, never mind the pearls, tiara and oversized hide-that-hangover glasses. Just the thought of her now has us ready to waltz down 5th Avenue in a little frock.
