Abstractly, skirt suits, the ocean and gymnastics don’t sound like a very good combination. Yet Chanel‘s Spring 2012 campaign mixes the three to perfection.
The ads, styled by Carine Roitfeld, feature models Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls in pristine white blazers and pencil skirts. Wearing matching wristbands, bobby socks and sandals, the pair effortlessly balance on uneven bars. Shot in black and white against a calm seascape, the overall effect is moody—and pretty mesmerizing.
As our friends at Fashionista point out, this is the first advertisement in five years that Karl hasn’t used model Freja Beha Erichsen. Between this and news of his unlikely March muse, rocker Alice Dellal, it seems the designer is shaking things up at the iconic label.
What do you think of Chanel’s new campaign? Would you style baby anklets with saltwater sandals the way Carine has here? And most importantly, does it make you want to buy the clothes?
