We’ve seen so many random collaborations (ahem, Kate Moss sushi boxes) at this point that we’re rarely fazed by news of another. Still, we found ourselves surprised to learn that celebrated French couturier Christian Lacroix has created a capsule line for Petit Bateau, only because there’s a third party involved, too: the Opéra de Paris. Does that mean that designer partnerships are evolving into designer threesomes?
The announcement in WWD states that the six-piece collection (four styles for women, two for children) will be available both in Petit Bateau boutiques and the Opéra Garnier store in Paris. If all goes well, the opera house hopes to eventually develop a line of ballet shoes and likeminded apparel as well, to tie in with the stage performances it’s known for. But as for this first collection, the styles are reported to include sailor-striped streetwear pieces with lovely dance-inspired details, such as tulle petticoats and velvet bows. Prices will run from $330 (for a jersey evening dress) to $66 (a kid’s top), and everything debuts on just in time for holiday shopping on December 6. Don’t hesitate to wrap up a few items for the both the older ladies and little girls in your family—as Lacriox says, "[this line is meant] for both mother and daughter."
