When it comes to promoting David Beckham’s bodywear collection, H&M goes all out: nearly-nude campaign imagery! Larger-than-life statues! Yesterday, the brand even sent out chocolate bars screened with the soccer idol’s shirtless bod (check it out on our Instagram—yum!). And now, famed director Guy Ritchie’s getting involved.
In H&M’s new Ritchie-directed mini-film, Becks is seen waving goodbye to his sons as they head to school—but when his bathrobe gets snagged in the wheel of their car (driven by wife Victoria, perhaps?), he’s left in nothing but his skivvies. A wild, slipper-shod chase through Beverly Hills ensues—culminating in an amusing encounter with a "Homes of the Stars"-type tour bus.
Says Ritchie of creating the 90-second clip, "David makes the perfect leading man. For me this felt more than a campaign; it was like directing a short film.” Indeed, according to WWD, the director wound up tripling the original length of the video spot. To be fair, when your subject’s this photogenic, extra screen time’s never a bad thing.
