The Scene: It was a chilly—nay, freezing—trek out to Eyebeam near NYC’s West Side Highway, but once inside the venue, the scene we found warmed our hearts. Surrounded by hoards of friends and family, Ecco Domani Foundation winner Alexa Galler presented a menswear-heavy collection inspired by her own father, Leonard.
The Soundtrack: DJ May Kwok selected a strong mix of tunes from some of the coolest female-fronted acts in the music biz, like Grimes and Chairlift.
The Look: Menswear by the mile—think boyfriend blazers, oversized oxford shirts and a floor-sweeping camel coat. But there was plenty of softness to balance out the masculine influences, notably in an asymmetrical skirt and pair of harem pants covered in rows of tiny script. Upon closer inspection, we found that these pieces were actually printed with Alexa’s father’s own signature. Aww.
Pieces We Want: A trio of two-textured sweaters in wool and fuzzy mohair caught our eye, and seemed to be the favorites among most of the presentation’s other attendees too.
