When I moved to New York, a really weird thing happened. I gained two distinct types of friends: fashion friends and architect friends. While my architect friends may not know who Alexander McQueen is, they totally grasp the importance of his tailoring work and rule-bending silhouettes. Meanwhile, my fashion friends couldn’t pick Tadao Ando out of a lineup (er, street style photo?), but would surely appreciate his spiritually bold geometrics—check out the ranch he designed for Tom Ford! And so, in the best but rarest of forms, my two worlds collided this week as I searched for the best Art Deco-inspired pieces on Etsy.
