Last night’s party at Tiffany & Co.‘s Fifth Avenue flagship was a sparkling affair—literally. While couple of the hour Scott Schuman (aka The Sartorialist) and Garance Doré unveiled their True Love in Pictures exhibit, Solange Knowles played dj and guests played with retro View-Master toys loaded with romantic images snapped by the blogger duo.
A smiling Garance told me her only real inspiration during the project stemmed from her own relationship with Scott—"I was driven by our own love story," she said. And after noticing her amazing, glittery Miu Miu pumps, I had to ask her for some shopping tips—especially since she only just moved to New York from Paris a few years ago. And as we all know, nothing’s more chic than a French transplant.
"My favorite store in Paris is Colette," she told me, referring to the editor-loved concept shop. "I actually think it’s the best store in the world. It’s a place that you go, even if you don’t want to buy anything, just to see the people who are there."
To be sure, Garance has found some new favorites in the States, too. "It’s a totally different atmosphere here," she said. "And most people go to department stores like Barneys, but I’m more of a downtown girl. I’m into Maryam Nassir Zadeh and I love that we have Isabel Marant and Surface to Air…but to be honest, I’m really just waiting for the Colette of New York to open." Somewhat ironically, considering her job revolves around the digital world, the photographer/blogger added, "I’m terrible at shopping online—I like to go into the actual stores."
By the way, not that the two have a date set (or are engaged, even), but Garance had this to say about the wedding-ready finale looks at Jil Sander’s spring show, which she’s still obsessing over: "If I had to get married, it’d be in that white shirtdress."
