Despite having debuted only six days ago, Universal Picture’s official Fifty Shades of Grey trailer has garnered more than 36.4 million YouTube views, making it the most-watched trailer of 2014. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Fifty Shades teaser had the best opening week of any trailer, beating the previous chart-topper, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, by more than 5 million views.
Of course, it’s not like this is a huge, breaking news-type story by any means. The book itself was (and still is!) insanely popular and this film has had a fever-pitch buzz surrounding it since the very first inklings of a rumor.
Speaking of which, all those fans out there can now set up something called a Fandango Fan Alert for when tickets are available to pre-order for the film’s Valentine’s Day 2015 release.
