What’s not to love about Katy Perry? A killer voice singing catchy lyrics, her outgoing personality, her ability to pull off virtually every hair color…
Of course, we’d be remiss not to mention her head-turning style. She’s playful, girly and compelling on every red carpet. Her style might not be conventional, but her confidence helps her pull off even the most daring looks. At the 2010 Met Gala, she glowed in a pink CuteCircuit gown laced with LED lights. And who could forget her performance at the 2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show? Before slipping into the extravagant Todd Thomas costumes she wore onstage (pictured above), Katy wore a floral corset by The Blonds, a bright pink mini and a pair of blue Louboutins on the pink carpet. During this past election season, she sported a skintight, blue rubber dress bedazzled with Obama’s "Forward" slogan at a Wisconsin rally. She told Extra that President Obama "liked it a lot," adding, “I’ve always said I’m a sucker for a theme, so if you give me the President as the theme I make these crazy dresses.” Katy took a more traditional route at the 2012 Grammy Awards in a beautiful powder-blue gown by Elie Saab—but accessorized it with matching blue hair and pastel pink lips.
While most of us admire Katy for her musical talents and provocative fashion sense, she’s recently tried her hand at a new skill in an unexpected place—the kitchen. As popchips’ celebrity spokesperson, she was tasked with creating a new flavor, Katy’s Kettle Corn, which just launched. The chips aren’t cotton-candy- or whipped-cream-flavored like you might expect from Katy, but they’re sweet, salty and—like Katy’s beau, John Mayer—so irresistible. She even added a personal style touch to the packaging: the chips come in a sleek black bag featuring a hot pink spotlight. And it wouldn’t be Katy if she didn’t dot the i in "chip" with a little heart. Did we mention they’re only 130 calories per serving?
We spoke with Katy to get the skinny on everything from workouts to New Year’s resolutions to, yes, her snacking habits.
Lucky: Got any childhood memories involving kettle corn that you can share?
Katy Perry: Kettle corn wasn’t always available when I went to the movies, but I would bring sugar packets to the theater to put on my popcorn. Now I’ll just sneak in bags of my popchips!
What’s a normal breakfast, lunch and dinner for you?
KP: When I was on the road, I liked to have a light soup, a piece of grilled chicken and some quinoa with grilled asparagus for dinner. I always need my daily vitamins, and I love fresh-pressed juices and coconut water. When I need to whip my body into shape, I cut out as much sugar, bread and pasta as I can, and drink water with lemon instead of juices or soda.
What workout do you most love?
KP: I love being outdoors, and prefer to go on hikes or ride my bike. I feel the best about my body once I get into a routine of waking up early, starting my day with a workout, meditating and getting fresh air. I work out three to four times per week and on the alternate days, I do something fun like hiking or SoulCycling. My favorite workout while on tour is riding around town on my bike, seeing the city I’m in and giving out tickets while dressed in disguise.
Besides popchips, what food can’t you resist?
Eating healthy is so important because I can’t afford to get sick. I love snacks, but pick healthier options like veggies and hummus, tangerines or Popchips because they taste great and are healthier options for me.

My New Year’s resolution is to not make resolutions! I just take life one day at a time and try to evolve to a better version of myself continually. I don’t like to set time restrictions on new beginnings.
