Alright you guys, Black Friday is fast approaching and shortly after we’ll be poised at the keyboard for Cyber Monday. But let’s talk Small Business Saturday for a moment, shall we? Launched in 2010, Small Business Saturday has become an integral part of the holiday shopping weekend. And this year, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, it’s more important than ever. Many businesses were forced to close, many were forced to shut down entirely and all are struggling to make up for the time lost and damage inflicted. Perhaps your local favorite is a vintage spot, a little coffee shop on the corner, or an off-the-beaten path boutique. But no matter the case, Small Business Saturday is meant to help them out.
So go ahead and hit the mall on Friday, but walk yourself down to Main St. on Saturday. Besides, you’ll probably find something completely unique while supporting your local community, so everybody wins. Need some direction? Just consult our city guides, they’ve got all our favorite local spots across the country.
