We’ve always had a sneaking suspicion that Grace Kelly‘s famed Monaco fairytale was just too good to be true. After all, what kind of Academy Award-winning actress packs up her bags and quits acting at the age of 26 to become a member of Monaco’s royal family? Grace Kelly, that’s who—and judging from the upcoming biopic, Grace of Monaco, set in 1962, the fable wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
In a just released U.K. trailer for the flick, Nicole Kidman stars as the sad, blonde bombshell who desperately wishes to return to Hollywood. But being a princess in the ’60s comes with its own set of responsibilities, which include obeying your husband.
The beautiful teaser—chock-full of gorgeous clothes that would have made Jackie Kennedy swoon—begins with Grace discussing how she’s been offered a role in a "Hitchcock" film (Alfred Hitchcock, that is). However, her excitement soon dissipates, and she at one point argues: "I can be a mother and a wife and hold down two jobs without the people getting too upset, can’t I?"
While the U.S. won’t be distributing Grace of Monaco domestically, the film is set to hit theaters in the U.K. on June 6, and will open this year’s Cannes Film Festival in May.
