There’s some sad news on the Hollywood front tonight: Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced this evening that they are divorcing after more than 10 years of marriage—which they did via a Goop post titled "Conscious Uncoupling." (Because, of course they did.)
"It is hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate," they wrote in the post. "We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate."
True to much of Goop’s conscious, do-gooder function, their brief joint statement was followed by a passage by Dr. Habib Sadeghi and Dr. Sherry Sami about "Conscious Uncoupling," as a movement. In it, they disclose that some divorces can be overwhelmingly positive—again, very much in vein with Goop’s overarching philosophy.
They write: "Naturally, divorce is much easier if both parties choose to have a conscious uncoupling…By choosing to handle your uncoupling in a conscious way, regardless of what’s happening with your spouse, you’ll see that although it looks like everything is coming apart; it’s actually all coming back together." Hm, it’s all just very Goop to us.
The actress and Coldplay frontman had been married for more than 10 years, and have two children, daughter Apple, 9, and son Moses, 7.
