Even if you can’t tell a Hail Mary from a Pick Six, you’ll soon be getting behind the Super Bowl’s latest promotional stunt, thanks to one key player: the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
In honor of the 48th Super Bowl set to be held, for the first time, in the New York area on February 2, members of the CFDA are designing 48 one-of-a-kind "haute couture" football helmets to contribute to the event hype, WWD reports. From studded silver (John Varvatos) to a rainbow-shaded garden party (Nicole Miller), the designs differ just as broadly as do the designers’ distinct tastes.
Bloomingdale’s will reveal all 48 helmets on January 15 both in the window of its 59th Street flagship store and for auction online at bloomingdales.com/superbowlhelmets, with all proceeds going to support the NFL Foundation.
