The world of online shopping is about to get even more chic. Luxe members-only e-tailer Moda Operandi has added two industry bigwigs to its rapidly growing team: former Marie Claire Style & Accessories Director Taylor Tomasi Hill and longtime Neiman Marcus exec Roopal Patel. Tomasi Hill will act as the site’s new Artistic Director; Patel, its Fashion Director.
Launched this past February, Moda Operandi’s M.O., so to speak, involves making designer ready-to-wear available for pre-order the instant the looks hit the runway. It’s a costly concept, but one that’s proved popular with shoppers who religiously follow the high-end trunk show circuit. Condé Nast (which also owns Lucky) showed its support for the site in September in the form of an investment deal and the addition of masthead heavyweight (and street style sensation) Tomasi Hill says that Moda Operandi’s editorial division has big plans in the pipeline.
"We want to continue to build our relationships with major brands," the company’s co-founder Aslaug Magnusdottir told the New York Times. "We plan to increase the number of trunk shows we will show on the site, with more ready-to-wear, accessories and jewelry." We can’t wait to see what happens next.
