While Helena Christensen’s lingerie line for Triumph has been in stores and online since early January, its still not available for us to shop here in America. Even so, the model has a way for us all to look our very best nearly nude.
This morning the former VS Angel drew on her vast knowledge of all things bra and panty related for the Telegraph, giving a list of helpful undergarment tips. She also shares some interesting insight as to how she does things, which might not apply to everyone, but is still interesting to know. Like, for instance, apparently she never matches her socks and likes to start to each day by applying lots of body oils. (Do you guys think that comes before or after the clashing socks?)
Here’s some of the highlights:
On putting lingerie on in the morning:
"It may sound over the top, but try lighting a candle in the morning while getting ready, whether you have five minutes or 50 minutes. Even if you can only manage it once a week, there’s something about the scent and the low flickering light that’s good for early starts."
On finding the right underwear for you:
"Try it on in the shop and make sure it’s comfortable. You never want to feel as if you’re wearing restrictive lingerie; it should just feel nice and give you a good silhouette."
On why you should try color:
"Try different colors and keep an eye out for quality straps, as I find I quite like it when a little bra strap is on show. It’s a shame they’re always so hidden."
"It’s actually inspiring to mix pieces, and nothing is ever clean at the same time anyway. Look for lingerie sets that would be good to mix and match, rather than wearing designer pieces from top to toe, which can feel quite strict and corporate."
On why looking sexy isn’t necessarily a good thing:
"If you do have someone in your life, isn’t it better to look pretty and sensual than sexy? I like vintage lingerie. In my eyes, soft, faded colors and pretty shapes are definitely more appealing than your typically sexy red lingerie set."
