Steven Jobs, the founder of Apple, creator of the iMac, the iPhone and the iPad, died today at the age of 56.
He’ll be most remembered for those innovations, but Jobs was more than a product guy—he cared about the ways products looked and how they felt to the consumer, not just about what they did.
Maybe that’s why if you ask a fashion designer or a clothing retailer what brands he or she admires most, Apple is almost always the first answer. Companies like Target and J.Crew, which strive to bring good desgin to the masses in ways that are true to their respective brands, were undoubtedly influenced by Jobs and his vision.
