Using lipstick as blush isn’t just a lifesaver, it’s actually how cream blush was invented. It’s pretty easy to see why, because while there are hundreds of different shades of lipstick, there aren’t as many blush ones. So sometimes makeup artists will see a gorgeous color in their lipstick kit that they can’t find in their blush one, and end up using it for cheeks anyway.
Classic satin or matte finish lipsticks work as the best substitutes, and there are tricks to applying it right. (Fingers are actually really good applicators, because they warm up the color so it melts into your cheeks more.)
