These boots are nowhere on our list of dream shoes for spring. Instead, they’re the shoes our editors are actually wearing.
Half of our staff—or, realistically, a quarter of it— saddles up to their desks every day in some version of these Western-skewing boots (Dolce Vita, Isabel Marant, American Eagle, whatever).
That wooden heel is solid enough to prevent 4pm shoe regret, the fatal hour when the choice to slip on heels in the morning seems so achingly stupid. Literally. And equally important, they’re simple. Amazingly, perfectly simple.
Some of our editors wear them with jeans and chunky cable knit sweaters for a laidback, "Kate Bosworth on a shopping outing" vibe. Others wear them with tights and little dresses when they have fancy things to do after work. Either way, the boots don’t steal attention from their outfits. They just fit. Which, I think, makes them more of a dream shoe than any 7-inch stiletto cobbled from raffia, glitter, acetate or magic.
