Last night at the DIVAS Shop for Opera–a legendary retail event benefitting the New York City Opera–co-hosts Vogue editor-at-large Hamish Bowles and stylist Patricia Field welcomed designers, editors and opera aficionados alike for a cocktail fueled evening of major discounts. Attendees were rewarded with a bounty of color coded racks boasting rare vintage finds and exclusive items donated directly from top designers such as Zac Posen and Roberta Freymann–marked up to a mind blowing 80 percent off.
To accompany the covetable wares for sale was a silent auction of one-of-a-kind sketches created by celebrated couturiers and illustrators such as Carolina Herrera, Narciso Rodriguez and Vivienne Tam–all inspired by their favorite opera costumes. Thuy Pham of United Bamboo–who submitted a lovely photo of a model to the cause–smiled through our endless questions about the line’s infamous (and AMAZING) cat calendarswhile nearby, fashion legend Stephen Burrows posed for pictures with fans near his drawing of Lucretia (from Lucrezia Borgia) rendered on musical score paper. The event hit a high note, for sure!
