In a candid Instagram post, Jaime King revealed her struggle with infertility and the heartbreaking five miscarriages she suffered before conceiving a son, James, last October.
The post has since been taken down, but it read: "For all the struggling women & moms out there that think they are alone – This is the truth about conceiving my son and struggles after."
She continued on to describe her difficulty in getting pregnant: "8 yrs of pain and undiagnosed PCOS & Endometriosis, 9 doctors until Dr. Randy Harris diagnosed me & saved my life from a severe ectopic, 5 miscarriages, 5 rounds of IVF, 26 IUI’s, most with no outcome, 4½ years of trying to conceive, 26 hours of brutal labor, early delivery b/c of sudden preeclampsia, tearing and tearing after the stitches were in once I was home, milk supply issues, painful mastitis, uncontrollable crying while breast feeding…"
She also discussed the pressures she faced as an actress and new mom, describing how she went to work only six weeks after giving birth because she "was afraid of letting others down."
This is one of the first times the actress has opened up extensively about her battle with infertility. The honest post was meant to provide hope to others going through similar situations, and there has been an outpouring of support for King on Instagram. It is refreshing for a celebrity like King to be so candid about a problem that affects plenty of women—most of whom may feel alone in their struggle.
In May, King hinted at her infertility struggles during an interview with ABC News, saying "[James] was a long time in the making and I feel like the universe put a little extra magic dust in him. He’s like the happiest, most joyful, social and loving child."
