In its 30-year history, J.Crew has done a truly fantastic job of selling an enviable lifestyle in addition to their gorgeous clothes and accessories. We routinely rip out pages from their seasonal catalogues, which are chock-full of effortless styling and shot in exotic locations. But we’ve never seen the picture perfect J.Crew lifestyle in motion—until now.
We caught our first glimpse of J.Crew’s inaugural commercial earlier today, and it’s exactly what we’ve been dreaming of and more. To clarify, it’s not exactly just a J.Crew commercial, in that it’s part of a dual-marketing campaign with MasterCard to promote MasterPass—a new online checkout system. In the spirit of the holiday season (it’s time, guys), the commercial features a flawlessly outfitted family of six posing in various winter settings: Tartan-clad England, a silver-accented party, cozy ski lodge and black tie. Set to a groovy, festive tune, the commercial isn’t completely profound by any means, but it’s the execution that deserves recognition. With the help of MasterCard, J.Crew has once again crafted a world of statement necklaces, patterned pants and adult-like children’s clothes that exudes utter happiness.
Oh, and major props to J.Crew for throwing on a pair of uncannily Jenna Lyons-esque specs on the family’s eldest daughter.
