After more than three years together, E! News is reporting that Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult have broken up. According to, as always, a “source,” the recent split “was very amicable,” especially in regards to the strain their successful careers posed on their relationship.
Said the anonymous insider: “They spent a lot of time apart because of work and it was difficult on their relationship.”
This, of course, is completely reasonable—and to be expected for a couple as young and busy as Lawrence and Hoult are and, predictably, will continue to be for the foreseeable future. As the 23-year-old actress du jour told Marie Claire in the magazine’s May issue, life’s balancing act is, at times, a difficult one.
“We’re so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We’d be living together. At least this way he’s in the same boat as I am: we can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other,” said Lawrence. “When we’re busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn’t text back or call. Life’s super busy. Obviously you know what they’re doing, and you trust them.”
