Karl Lagerfeld is not one to pass up an opportunity. Although the designer is known best as the brains behind Chanel and Fendi, the Kaiser has dabbled in everything from advertising ice cream to sketching wine bottle labels. Now, Lagerfeld is lending his genius to something a little more personal: the re-launch of his eponymous fashion label.
Lagerfeld’s new venture consists of two parts, his lower-priced "Karl Collection" (100 women’s pieces in the $95 to $450 range, available on net-a-porter.com) and his signature line, "Karl Lagerfeld Paris" ($411 to $3,425, produced and distributed by Italy’s Ittierre SpA). Both make their debut on January 25, 2012, following closely by a website launch (karllagerfeld.com) on February 28.
A master of re-invention, Karl never fails to surprise us with his innovation and fresh perspective. We’re really curious to see what he creates this time. WWD has already confirmed "silvery jeans," "perfecto-style vests" and "an elegant black cocktail dress with a plunging back," but we need PICTURES. Stay tuned, kids, we’ll post the lookbook as soon as it drops!
Are excited to shop his new line? Do you think it will reach the same popularity as Lagerfeld for Macy’s?
