Just weeks after a certain grandmother-in-law subtly ordered that Kate Middleton cover her knees with a new, tasteful wardrobe, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for her first public appearance of 2014 in a Queen Elizabeth-approved Jenny Packham gown. At the National Portrait Gallery’s Portrait Gala in London last night, the 32-year-old royal turned heads in a floor-length silk tulle gown with a tastefully sexy off-shoulder element—a piece from the London designer’s Fall 2013 collection that the Duchess has worn before. Now, let’s talk about the necklace: the dripping jewels were on loan from the Queen herself, which perfectly accented the gown’s V-shaped neckline and Kate’s semi-tight curls.
Can we also make a note that the Duchess gave birth but a mere seven months ago? There’s no mistaking that this dress is a fitted one, especially in the torso, and yet Kate looks remarkably svelte.
