Keira Knightley has now worn her wedding dress—a flouncy Chanel frock she first debuted in 2008—more than three times. Originally debuting at the BAFTA Awards in February 2008, the 28-year-old actress then expertly wore it with a cropped tweed jacket for her May 2013 nuptials, and again with a sheer lacy shirt for a December charity gala.
But it appears that the pretty, pretty piece may have had its last run. During a recent interview with the UK’s Daily Telegraph, Keira admitted that the £200,000 (approximately $332,880) wedding dress is now completely ruined. The culprit? Red wine.
"It’s now got red wine spilled down the front because the last time I wore it my friend went like this [she juts our her elbows] and now it’s everywhere," she described to the paper. "I didn’t quite realize the extent of it until I got home. It’s quite impressively splattered. But, hey, a good night is a good night and when a dress has had its time, maybe it’s had its time. I’m pretty sure I can get it out but, if I can’t, I’m happy with the memory of a good night and the story of how the dress got destroyed."
Yes, it’s a total disappointment, but Keira’s right: it certainly had an impressive run-of-show. Karl will understand!
