In a move that feels equal parts pretentious or endearing, it appears that Kendall Jenner is going by a new moniker: it’s just “Kendall” now, people. As seen on her agency The Society Management’s website, Kendall—just Kendall—is nestled alphabetically amongst the Lindsey Wixsons and the Liu Wens and the Louise Parkers.
My thoughts are as follows: Kendall (and her agency) could be making a concerted effort to get away from her Kardashian-Jenner family tree, a topic she’s spoken out about before. As she told Love Magazine in its Fall 2014 issue: “People think that this [success] just came to me. But it didn’t. What I have has almost worked against me. I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn’t take me seriously as a model.”
But then, there’s the flip side to consider. By dropping her last name, is Kendall suggesting she’s already at the level of, say, a Twiggy or an Iman? In that case, I’m nowhere near as accepting of it.
So what’s the real answer here? I guess we’ll never know.
