Last night, we joined Target at Manhattan’s Terminal 5 to celebrate the superstore’s new shoppable short, "Falling for You." On hand were the mini-flick’s stars—Kristen Bell, Zachary Abel and Nia Long—who stuck around long after the red carpet to enjoy live aerial acrobatics and, of course, a screening of the film itself.
"My older sisters used to go all the time [to Target] with my mom, and I would try to sneak into the car with them," said Bell of her earliest Tar-jay memory. "They’d always come home with stuff like training bras and new shoes, and I so wanted to be part of that." Nowadays, though, the actress usually makes a beeline for either the brand’s many collaborative collections ("They’re spectacular, but they sell out so quickly—it’s tough to get everything you want!") or the Xhilaration underwear section.
Seems Kristen’s "Falling for You" costar Zachary Abel is also into the store’s underthings. "I stole them from set every day—don’t tell anyone!" he told us. "I really liked this pair of purple boxer briefs they put me in—they had yellow bananas all over them, so…insert the pun."
Though every celeb on the carpet was dressed in pieces from Target, we particularly loved how Rose Byrne styled her black tiered miniskirt from the store with a vintage leopard-print belt and Céline sweater. French designers, after all, are her favorite—she named Sandro, Maje and Vanessa Bruno as her three primary go-tos for day-to-day dressing. The Aussie actress, who’s currently filming The Internship with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, was excited to spot The Carrie Diaries‘ AnnaSophia Robb at the event, as the two had bonded during a recent trip to Florence. "I got the wildest platforms shoes while we were there!" AnnaSophia told me. "They’re blue leather peep-toe pumps, and the entire bottoms are sequined." Carrie Bradshaw would most certainly approve.
Anna Kendrick, fresh off her Pitch Perfect press tour, turned up in an adorable blue Navajo-patterned skirt from Target. Ever since her Oscar-nominated turn in Up In the Air, the 27-year-old has been making major waves in the fashion world. "I’m a really big fan of Jason Wu and Alberta Ferretti," she said when I asked about her favorite labels. "I always love when designers know how to design for a woman’s body. So many designers tend to make clothes that’d only look good on coat hangers—or women who look like coat hangers. Elie Saab and Marchesa have never let me down, though. I can’t think of a single time I had was in a pinch and one of those two didn’t have something that worked perfectly." Speaking of all things "perfect," Anna’s latest role in Pitch Perfect, in which she covers tunes from the likes of Simple Minds and Bruno Mars, has earned the petite starlet tons of critical raves. Although she named Blackstreet’s "No Diggity" as her hands-down favorite from the soundtrack, I was curious as to which song she wished had been included. "I mean, if we’re going the ‘let’s get Anna a hip-hop career’ route, it’d have to be Jay-Z’s ‘Big Pimpin,’" she laughed.
