We’ll be the first to admit that Lana Del Rey fascinates us to the point of all-encompassing obsession—but sometimes because her music is so great, we find ourselves forgetting that she’s perhaps the most melodramatic person currently alive on planet Earth.
Or so it seems sometimes.
A week before turning 28, the songstress confessed in an interview with The Guardian that she literally cannot stop talking about dying. After writer Tim Jonze pointed out a certain, morbid 27 Club connection between two of Del Rey’s idols, Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain, she replied: “I don’t know. Umm, yeah…I wish I was dead already.”
Jonze allegedly fought her on this, and she insisted: “I do! I don’t want to have to keep doing this. But I am.”
So, it’s looking like Del Rey was either: a) having a really rough week, or b) her ideal five-year plan contains neither Grammys nor Video Music Awards, but rather a secluded retirement home somewhere in the boonies of Arizona.
