With Marc Jacobs’ official departure from Louis Vuitton, the Parisian fashion house has made it clear that being just a "luxury" label is not good enough, now tapping into the "hyper-luxe" market. The September announcement took us—and a few other familiar names, including Kanye West—by surprise, and the house later launched a brand-new Spring 2014 campaign featuring David Bowie. Several months after, the five-digit collection is finally hitting stores, Fashionista tells us. After getting our first glimpse at the goods, we can’t help but marvel at how very sumptuous the new bags are. Those lucky luxury customers.
With prices ranging from $30,000 to $40,000, it’s no surprise the collection will only be sold in Vuitton’s brick-and-mortar stores—no online sales for these opulent babies. And with a whole new, luxe customer base, there’s hope for Vuitton parent company LVMH that this transition will boost the label’s recently dwindling sales. Want to see what we’re working with here?
