For all its popularity, lace can be a tricky fabric to work with. Done right, it’s delicately regal (see: Kate Middleton’s McQueen wedding gown, every Valentino collection ever); mishandled, it comes off as chintzy and cheap. That’s part of why we love Australian label LOVER so much—designers Nic Briand and Susien Chong have demonstrated a mastery of this intricate fabric to the point where it’s now their collection’s signature.
So it makes perfect sense that for Resort 2013, LOVER’s teamed up with Net-a-Porter (the e-tailer’s stocked the label for over four years) on an exclusive capsule of lace skirts, blouses and dresses. Each piece is cut from Briand and Chong’s feminine Rosebud Lace, and the collection comes in a classic trio of shades: red, white and black. We think LOVER fan and fashion classicist Anne Hathaway would appreciate that sweet simplicity. Perhaps she’ll take this capsule for a spin during her upcoming Les Mis promotional tour…?
