Right before my wedding (which thankfully occurred the last beautiful Saturday before Sandy arrived) I realized that I had completely neglected to purchase a rehearsal dinner outfit. Which is a huge testament to how busy I was…because I NEVER miss an opportunity to spend money.
My evening-before meal was not a lavish affair—immediate family and my maid of honor only—but still, I wanted something special and apropos of a bride-to-be. Since the following day I would be wearing full-on white gown, sparkling jewels and towering heels, I decided to go for a "city hall" type look with a simple ivory sheath from Madewell and Elizabeth and James cobalt kitten pumps. And I had my fiance (now husband, woo!) were a simple navy suit to match.
For the specific occasion, the two pieces were a perfect pair, but now I plan to wear them both separately. The dress will be pretty with everything from my favorite Charlotte Olympia kitty flats to rugged Rachel Comey boots. The heels work with every pair of printed pants in my closet. I’d enthusiastically recommend either piece to anyone, engaged or not.
