The first ever Tom Ford outlet might not be open yet, but I still made my (now) annual spring pilgrimage to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets a couple weeks ago. I used to review sample sales for a New York shopping blog so I have pretty high standards when it comes to outlet shopping. "High" meaning insanely low prices on top-notch quality finds. (Past sale triumphs include a Vena Cava perforated leather skirt for $40 and a past-season Cushnie et Ochs cut-out gown for fifty bucks.)
I never have high-expectations, but I always keep an eye out, so when I wandered into the one-year-old Off Fifth, I was pretty chill. That is until I saw a bunch of Nicholas Kirkwood heels on the designer racks—and there was an "additional 40 percent off" sale price (always look for additional off at the outlets!). I almost CRIED. I die for Nicholas Kirkwood, but was pretty much resigned to never actually owning any of his designs in my lifetime, since they retail in the four figures.
It was a hard decision between the nude peep-toe platform loafers or a pair of python asymmetric d’Orsay pumps. Eventually, the killer pair in the pic came home with me for almost 75 percent off retail, but these bright orange and fuschia can be yours for a cool $1,265. I figured I’d get more mileage out of the snakeskin ones. Plus, they really were the best deal.
