Kate Middleton is a lot of things, but "trendy" isn’t one of them. So when the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out today in a peplum—the ubiqutious shape of both the fall fashion shows and the Oscars red carpet—we were a little startled. (As startled as you can be by a solid color skirt suit, but still.)
Not only did Kate pick a silhouette more fashion-forward and distinct than her classic sheath and cardigan combo, she also put her own spin on it. By cinching the jacket with a belt from her own closet, she highlighted the peplum shape even further.
But don’t worry, Kate isn’t going all Rihanna or Rachel Bilson on us and morphing into an experimental clothes horse. True to her conservative nature, Kate paired her peplum with a prim fascinator and ladylike pumps. She also choose one of her favorite, standby brands for both the jacket and dress: L.K. Bennett.
While the jacket and dress aren’t available online, the brand’s nude pumps— the ones Kate wears sorta everywhere—finally are. Shop them here, and click through the slideshow for some currently available peplum jackets similar to Kate’s.
