Macy’s latest Impulse collaboration doesn’t so much involve major labels or brands as the people who are photographed wearing them. The store has teamed up with Made Fashion Week—a company that currently supports over 40 up-and-coming labels, including Suno and Altuzarra—to create an entire collection inspired by street style stars and the key items they’re seen wearing.
WWD reports that unlike the brand’s previous partnerships, this project, called Made Fashion Week for Impulse, won’t be a one-off line. After the first items (reportedly about 20 to 30 pieces, priced from $39 to $139) debut this coming April, new styles will be added monthly. Everything will be featured in a biannual digital "style guide," showcasing influential artists, musicians, models, writers, editors and designers wearing the clothes. The first one will be live starting April 2 on Macys.com/impulse.
The campaign for the inaugural collection was shot by Terry Richardson and, as you can see below, depicts some off-duty models hanging out backstage. According to Jenne Lombardo, one of Made’s co-founders, this more accessible, off-the-runway look is what the line’s all about.
"Just like us, the Made collection exists somewhere at the intersection of fashion, music, art and popular culture," she said in an interview. "Our collections will always be inspired by the kids on the streets. Our currency has always been access."
