Today, Macy’s Herald Square location opens a portion of its newly renovated shoe section, now the largest in the world. At 39,000 square feet, the space even beats Saks’ famously big footwear floor, which caused a lot of hullabaloo in 2007 by demanding its own zip code. Customers will find the area stocked with roughly 280,000 styles organized into different zones, including spots dedicated to big designers (like Stuart Weitzman and Michael Michael Kors), Macy’s Impulse labels (such as Dolce Vita and Vince Camuto) and sneakers (Nike, Adidas, Converse and Keds are all there).
And there are still more exciting changes to come. WWD reports that later this month, or in early September, the 34th Street store plans to reveal more real estate dedicated to heels, flats and boots. We really hope everything will be done in time for Fashion’s Night Out—what better cause for celebration than hundreds of thousands of shoes?
