Instead of spending the weekend ringing in her father’s 53rd birthday (today!), Malia Obama commemorated the occasion in a slight different way: President Obama’s willowy 16-year-old daughter hit up Lollapalooza, just as any Chicago-area teen should. And you’ll be entertained to know that, despite the presence of two undercover guards, Malia didn’t receive any special treatment.
If you’ve ever experienced Lollapalooza, you’ll know that exiting the grounds after the evening’s final set is, for lack of a better word, a complete and utter fustercluck. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Malia stayed through the very end of fellow Chicago native Chance the Rapper’s performance. Meaning: Malia either had to get airlifted out of the incredibly dense crowd (not entirely out of the realm of possibility) or walk with the crowd to her preferred form of transportation. She (coolly) chose the latter.
“The crowd on Columbus was light as she walked well after the bulk of the crowd had gone at about 10:15 p.m.,” wrote the Sun-Times. “Malia was wearing a yellow v-neck romper, but more importantly, she and her guards had managed to stay clean in Lolla’s messy, muddy fields.”
You do you, Malia. Hope you enjoyed Chance.
