My friends and I joke that I need to live in a plastic bubble. Even in the dead of winter, mosquitos find me—so you can only imagine what happens in the swampy months of summer. I’m particularly diligent about keeping a can of bug repellent on me, but during this gorgeous weekend of al fresco dining, rooftop drinks and a run in the park, I was too busy enjoying the summer weekend to apply my Eau de Off Spray. Needless to say, mosquitos made quite the meal out of my ankles and I was willing to do anything to relieve the itchiness.
Chances are you’ve used Mario Badescu’s amazing Drying Lotion on a pesky blemish, but it turns out that it’s great for taking the itch out of bug bites, too. The mix of calamine, camphor and alcohol are the same ingredients you’d find in a classic calamine lotion at the drugstore. Just use a Q-tip and dip it into the formula (don’t shake the bottle!) and lightly apply it all over the bite—you’ll feel relief kick in immeditately. I even noticed the redness significantly decrease after a few hours, so I’m happy that I can still wear the dress I was planning on wearing to work tomorrow without having to worry about my bug bites.
