Those can’t afford Matthew Williamson‘s expensive namesake line and missed out on his Macy’s collaboration are about to get another chance. No, the London-based designer isn’t back for round two with the affordable retailer. But he has signed on for another lower-priced range—this time with Havaianas.
Inside of just adding his prints to the brand’s signature flip-flops, Williamson has created two pairs of exclusive rubber rainboots. But just because they made by an Englishman, don’t expect the styles to look like Hunters, wellies known for being quintessentially British and very understated. These will get a lot more attention. Forgoing neutral options entriely, Matthew covered each one with a flamboyant pattern from his Fall 2012 collection.
"I’m drawn to the way Havaianas capture playfulness and light-heartedness in their products—there is clearly an element of fun," Matthew told Vogue UK. "I wanted to embrace this sensibility in the rain boots and so chose prints that were whimsical without being kitsch."
Both options will cost £85 (roughly $135) and debut this coming autumn to coordinate with both Matthew Williamson’s 15th and Havaianas’ 50th anniversaries. Do you like colorful rain gear? Or do you go for dark colors when it’s stormy outside?
