It’s been quite a week to be a member of the Knowles-Carter family. While Solange and Beyoncé have remained more or less radio silent, certain insurgents—Anya Hindmarch, the designer of Solange’s airborne clutch, among them—have done their duty to shed light on the viral incident.
One such rabble-rouser, M.I.A., took to her studio to put together a very timely, bass-bumping remix of Beyoncé’s "Flawless." "Baddygirl 2" (as it’s named) features a whole slew of mashed-up lyrics from "Flawless," as well as a pristine bit sampled from Beyoncé’s 2008 track "Diva."
The 38-year-old rapper debuted the track on Twitter yesterday, along with a message that read, "Beyoncé camp has not replied for months." Meaning: it appears as if M.I.A. has been attempting to collaborate with Beyoncé for a while now. Was this unauthorized remix simply a result of a lot of pent-up wait time, or rather a more targeted marketing strategy? Either way, this song is one heck of a fun listen; dare we say, it’s flawless.
