This morning may have marked President Barack Obama’s more publicized, televised inauguration ceremony, but yesterday, the POTUS was officially sworn in for his second term at a private gathering in the White House’s Blue Room. Michelle Obama wore a beautiful bespoke Reed Krakoff dress in deep ultramarine layered with a matching cardigan. The designer told WWD he was "honored and thrilled" to have dressed the First Lady for the occasion, adding, "It really is a highlight of my career."
Meanwhile, for this morning’s outdoor inauguration ceremony—an event that included performances by the likes of Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson—Mrs. Obama once again went with Democrat blue for her ensemble. She chose a custom navy collarless coat from Thom Browne, which the designer made from a silk jacquard typically used to craft neckties. She finished the look with an embellished J.Crew belt, oxblood-hued gloves and blue suede Reed Krakoff boots.
