We weren’t sure what to expect from Miss Miley Cyrus’ performance at Sunday’s 2013 American Music Awards, but we did approach the evening with an air of trepidation.
More enormous teddy bears? A second on-stage joint? Continued twerking? As it turns out, we had an uncharacteristically subdued performance to which to look forward, but she more than made up for it in… cats.
Yes, you read that correctly. As Cyrus belted "Wrecking Ball" in a bedazzled feline bikini and stacks of lucite bracelets, a digitized cat sang along behind her. When the song reached its emotional peak, the orange tabby even started crying, only to stick its tongue out at song’s end.
It’s been said before that we at Lucky are die-hard cat fans (read: cat-ear headbands), so we thought this performance was actually, well, kind of adorable. It didn’t disappoint in terms of the Cyrus shock factor or her revealing ensemble, but it did show a more demure side about which we forgot, quite frankly.
Our senior digital editor Elana Fishman said it best, via Instagram: "She’s just being Meow-ly, I guess."
