At this point, I’m pretty used to seeing Miley Cyrus naked. She was naked (if covered by a bedsheet) for that controversial Vanity Fair shoot in 2008 (if only those outraged mothers could’ve foreseen these last few weeks!), her Marc Jacobs’ T-shirt was shot in the buff and most of her "Wrecking Ball" music video features the singer in her birthday suit. And that flesh-colored latex ensemble she wore during the VMA "Blurred Lines" performance? Pretend naked, but still pretty naked.
Honestly, what I’ve been finding much more shocking than seeing the pop star stripped down is her recent series of sexually charged outfits. Take, for instance, what she worn while performing at the iHeartRadio Music Festival last Saturday: black nipple covers under a white mesh dress with a choker-like neckline. I can’t explain it, so I asked my team for their thoughts. See what they had to say below—and let me know what you think of Miley’s latest look!
"I’m wondering why she couldn’t just wear a nude bodysuit?" - Sarah Ferguson, digital production assistant
"That shiz is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S." – Elana Fishman, senior digital editor
"Is this one step above being naked on stage? At least those furry sleeves are probably keeping her a little warm. I don’t know how Miley will top herself in provocativeness after this outfit." - Karen Wilson, senior digital producer
"I think what upsets me most about Miley’s outfit is just how dated it looks. I’m totally fine with her ‘I’m not a girl, not yet a woman‘ thing, and I’m even OK with this ’90s raver-style resurgence, but is it too much to ask for her to do it in a little Chris Kane, or something?" – Verena von Pfetten, executive digital editor
"It’s like spring break meets a furry convention." – Hillary McDaniels, digital production assistant
"You give a 20 year old money, fame and a lot of attention—this is what you get." - John Jannuzzi, senior digital project editor
